The combination of a remotely managed multi-purpose M2M gateway
and M2M enablement services will make it significantly easier,
cheaper, and quicker for services innovators and systems
integrators to develop new M2M solutions.
"We see an increase in customer demands for a remotely managed and
simple to use M2M gateway for example in asset management, food
monitoring and traceability, and environmental monitoring. This
achievement is a major milestone in creating a common framework for
new M2M services", says Hans Christian Haugli, CEO of Telenor
Objects.
Telenor Objects' M2M enablement services is an offering which
allows applications to control and monitor any device. The aim is
to reduce the fragmentation and complexities in creating new M2M
solutions.
"To deliver the full value of the Internet of Things we must
create a platform for open innovation. Telenor Objects promotes
openness and strives to take down the barriers for cooperation
across value chains through an open horizontal architecture",
concludes Hans Christian Haugli. The benefits of this are rapid and
cost effictive M2M application development and service
delivery.
"Intel believes that open industry-standard platforms in M2M
sectors create a substantial advantage for smart service
developers. By combining the capability and performance of the
Intel® Atom™ processor-based open gateway devices with Telenor
Objects' M2M Services platform Shepherd, we aim to make it
easier to develop and speed the creation of smart M2M services
amongst innovators" said Kevin D. Johnson, director of Embedded
Connected Devices, Embedded and Communications Group, Intel
Corporation.
